Mayo Town Council Considers Doubling Peddlers License Fee to $400
MAYO, FL – The Mayo Town Council's proposal to double the annual peddler's license fee has been paused, with the decision now pushed back to a future meeting.
The increase, which would raise the yearly fee for transient merchants from $200.00 to $400.00, was initially discussed at the Monday, October 13, 2025 meeting. The matter was then formally tabled at the November 10, 2025 meeting. The Council is now expected to revisit the proposal in a future meeting.
The proposal, if approved, would make Mayo's annual peddler's license one of the most expensive in the region, standing significantly higher than fees in nearby North Florida cities. Transient merchants, such as food trucks and mobile merchandise vendors, are required to obtain this permit to conduct business without a permanent location in the town.
