More Than Just Coffee: Perry Perk Celebrates Three Years of Community and Connection in Mayo
MAYO, Fla. — On a bustling morning on Main Street, the distinct black (with some pink flair) coffee truck known as Perry Perk isn't just serving lattes; it is serving a vision.
Recently celebrating its third anniversary, the popular local spot has cemented itself as the heartbeat of morning routines and community gatherings in Mayo. But for owner Becca Perry, the true measure of success isn't just the strong coffee sales—it's the genuine moments that capture the heart of the business. We asked Perry for her reflections on the recent three-year milestone event:
"Honestly, my favorite moment was seeing our community gathered in one place — moms, kids, retirees, teachers, business owners — all mingling like one giant family," Perry shared. "I loved watching people take photos with the Perry Perk sunnies, sipping their drinks and swapping stories. The moment Harper ran up to me with her friends showing off their little 3-year stickers reminded me why we do this. It was one of those days where I just stood back and thought, 'God, thank You. Mayo really is special.'"
The Vision: Community One Cup at a Time
The seed for the coffee truck was planted long before Becca and her husband, Ethan, moved to his "ol’ stomping grounds."
"God truly gave me the vision for Perry Perk years before it existed — a place that would grow community through something as simple as a cup of coffee," Perry said. Upon arriving, they noticed a void: "Mayo didn’t have a local spot for people to gather, chat, encourage each other, and feel known. Sometimes if you don’t have family here, it’s hard to build community."
Becca’s personal dream of being a stay-at-home mom was "redirected" into the reality of the fun, bright-pink, and black business. She was driven by purpose:
"I wanted a business that felt warm, personal, and rooted in love — a place where people feel seen and cared for. And ultimately, I wanted to invest in the town that is raising my kids."
The early days presented challenges unique to Rural North Florida. "The biggest hurdle was learning the logistics — permits, fees, town approvals, figuring out where a coffee truck fits in a small rural community," she admitted. Yet, the community showed up before they were ready.
"Another surprise was how much community support we received from day one, people showed up before we were even fully set up!"

The Excellence in the Process
Perry Perk’s philosophy ensures that the product is as excellent as the service.
The business supports regional commerce by using locally roasted coffee from Across the River Roasters and locally sourced dairy milk from Wainwright, ensuring fresher, richer flavor. Every recipe is meticulously perfected:
"Every recipe is tested multiple times before it goes on the menu — we never put out anything we don’t love ourselves."
The deep connection to the customer is what truly sets them apart. "We don’t just hand people a drink. We learn their names, their kids’ names, their favorite orders, their stories," Perry stated, adding the ultimate secret:
"And honestly, the biggest thing is this: we really care. We pray for our customers, celebrate their milestones, and know that every cup is a chance to speak kindness."
🥤 The Beloved Menu
- Lattes: The Classic and Turtle flavored lattes (available since day one) and the highly popular Crème Brûlée Latte.
- Seasonal Delights: Christmas fan favorites include Winter Wonderland and Snowy Peppermint Mountains.
- Lotus Drinks: "Lotus lovers go crazy" for the fruity options, especially the Lipgloss and Mermaid Water, created by the first paid employees, the "Perry Perk girlies."
- Local Drinks: They often create Mayo-inspired drinks—like anything with red and black for the Hornets. "We love any reason to celebrate; it gives this town something to look forward to."
- When asked directly if a "secret menu" existed, Perry Perk skillfully ignored the question—a mystery that keeps the town guessing.

The Next Chapter: From Truck to Town Square
Today, the lot itself has become a magnet, hosting food trucks, vendor days, Chick-fil-A Fridays, and community fundraisers.
"It’s important to us that Perry Perk is a place where people feel loved, encouraged, and part of something bigger. The heart of our business is connection — 'Growing community one cup at a time,'" Perry summarized.
Looking ahead, Perry Perk has ambitious goals for the next five years:
- Short-Term Dreams: Expanding the lot into a full drive-thru experience, adding more pastries (muffins, bagels, sandwiches, etc.), partnering with more local vendors weekly, and potentially starting a once-a-month Saturday farmers market.
- Five-Year Vision: "A permanent brick-and-mortar Perry Perk on Main Street — a space where families can sit, talk, work, linger, and hold events. A place kids can go that’s fun and safe to hang out. A second truck or mini location to serve nearby towns."
Perry’s ultimate goal is to see the business become "a staple of Mayo tourism — something people 'have to stop at.'" She emphasized the core mission:
"Whatever Perry Perk becomes, it will always stay rooted in faith, family, community, and excellence. I want Mayo to flourish, and I want Perry Perk to always play a part in that."
